Skin care after training
Sweat, tight clothes and shared equipment. A few things to do for your skin after a workout.
when the workout ends
Don't put off the shower
When sweat stays on the skin for a long time, it can mix with dead cells and oil and clog pores. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a lukewarm shower right after a workout.
During training
- 1Pat sweat away with a clean towel; rubbing irritates the skin.
- 2Wear loose, cotton, breathable clothes. Tight synthetic fabric presses sweat into the skin.
- 3Wipe shared equipment before and after you use it.
- 4If you have makeup or a heavy cream on, wash it off before training.
After training
- 1Take a lukewarm shower and clean sweat-prone areas carefully.
- 2If your hair got sweaty, wash it with shampoo.
- 3Apply a moisturizer to your face that doesn't leave it greasy.
- 4Don't leave sweaty clothes in your bag; change right away.
